Here it is, part two of the Grand Opening of the new Journey to Churchill!
If you have not read part one yet click HERE.
When I last left off I was just about to enter the town of Churchill.
As you get closer to the town you see a sign warning you that Polar Bears have been seen in the area.
Looks like someone landed their helicopter on the outskirts of town.
This makes for a great photo op with the family.
Next is a sign welcoming you to the town.
Just in case you are planing a trip to the real Churchill, depending what you are going, for these are the times of year you would want to go.
Another new addition to this area is this boat that many visitors were hopping into and getting their picture taken.
As well as this kayak…
…and this quad. There was also a snowmobile but for some reason I did not get a photo of it.
I’ve posted a number photos of the Tundra Grill but never have I seen it this busy.
In the back you can see the bear proof, floor to celling windows. Right outside of those windows you can view the bears.
I can’t wait to have breakfast here with the bears after it calms down.
Another new area I did not post about last time is the outdoor children’s play area.
It features a whale carcass that kids can play on…
…or dig for.
Even late in the day the media was still interviewing the zoo employees.
The caribou were also exploring their new home.
The way it is set up it looks like they could just hop out of their exhibit at any time. No fences or cages are visible at all.
Another new addition is this penny press. I know what you are thinking, where am I going to get a penny? Don’t worry all you need is a looney and the penny is provided. There are four different ones to collect.
Also making his zoo debut is Winston the new mascot for the zoo.
Also opening today is the new gift shop located in the new entrance.
The view of the gift shop from the entrance.
Another from the back of the gift shop looking at the front.

Until next time …
